Phase II Environmental Site Assessment Results
The Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) identified compounds typically associated with vehicle maintenance, landfill, and incinerator operations, i.e., metals and petroleum materials. A copy of the Phase II ESA is available through the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Land Restoration Program (LRP) or at the link on the bottom of this page.
The MDE reviewed the results of the Phase II ESA and provided comments in June 2025. No additional sampling has been requested by the MDE. Additionally, a Screening Level Ecological Risk Assessment (SLERA) will be prepared to assess any impacts to Spa Creek. Exposure to the compounds identified at the Site can be mitigated with traditional remediation types and land use controls, such as a groundwater use restriction, capping with impervious materials, and health and safety plans employed during construction.
