Engage and Stay Informed
The City plans to host a public participation meeting about this project in Quarter 1 of 2026.
The public participation phase of the RAP process also includes public comments and participation, which provide the public with the opportunity to learn about the planned remedial activities for the Site and provide input on the cleanup plan and future uses. The following stages of the RAP that include public input are highlighted below:
- When the RAP is proposed, notice of its submission will be identified via a sign at the Site in a high traffic area, a local newspaper (once a week for two weeks), and on this webpage. The public notice will provide a MDE contact for public comments. Public comments will be received from the MDE 30 days after the posting of the sign and newspaper notice.
- Within 40 days after the first newspaper notice, the City of Annapolis and the MDE will hold a public informational meeting in which the City will present the history of the Site, the contamination determined to be present at the Site, a description of the proposed RAP, and future development plans for the Site, at which time the public is invited to engage with questions, concerns, and input related to the proposed remedies and future site development. The meeting will be held at an accessible public building within the City of Annapolis at a time that is convenient to the majority of citizens living near the Site. The MDE will accept public comments on the proposed plan for 5 days after the meeting.
The specific date for the meeting will be posted in the newspaper notice and on this website. Any other events and updates of interest to the public will be regularly posted on this website as information becomes available. At any time, questions and comments can be directed to the “Contact” form below. Comments received during the public participation phase are evaluated and determination of the appropriate remedial actions is made based on this feedback.
The City of Annapolis is also identifying potential grant opportunities for the redevelopment of the Site.
